Once social change begins it cannot be reversed.   You can not un-educate the person
who has learned to read.  You can not humiliate the person who feels pride.
You cannot oppress the people who are not afraid any more.

News and Updates
Etta and her family

Good things were happening at PIP in December and January.
Etta graduated after a full year of excellent work.  She has a part time job and is looking for more.  Bridgette passed her Pre-GED and has scheduled the test for next month.  She also has a new job at What's for Dinner, joining three other Venice Alumni there.  Victoria is working at Enzo's coffee shop, where her employers are very impressed with her work. LaDon and Ron are in advanced manufacturing training at Easter Seals.
Chavon and Alecia are starting atCincinnati State Technical College next week.  That means we'll have 5 PIPsters in college in February!
We have recruited four special career mentors to work individually with trainees to help them hone and pursue job goals.  These mentors will work with trainees who already have a GED or high school diploma and need to make the next steps.
We also have three folks who have identified drivers' license as a major employment barrier.  So, we've recruited one driving teacher volunteer, and we need another. If you can help. let us know.  You need a drivers license, good driving record, patience, and nerves of steel.
New trainees in December and January include Duane, Jennifer, Anthony, Cassander and Cheneice.  Anthony makes beautiful veggie trays; Jennifer is baking cakes and cookies; Duane and Cheneice are cheerfully handling prodigious piles of dishes, and Cassander has won compliments from Judy for her steady, continuous hard work.
PIP's Board of Directors and staff are meeting on Saturday to make strategic plans for 2012 and 2013.  By next month we'll have some plans and some statistics from 2011 to share with you.

Venice Kitchen sold mostly over the holidays.  Our "party in a cup" was a favorate Christmas gift.  As we get into winter cold, our bean soup is a favorite that can be purchased online.
