Power Inspires Progress, a nonprofit employment education program in Over-the-Rhine has the following volunteer needs at our Venice on Vine pizza parlor.

1)  Lunch and Learn Tutor.  Requires regular weekly commitment, mornings, afternoons or early evening 1.5-2 hours/week. work side by side one-on-one with adults during their work day on educational goals including literacy, math skills, basic computer skills, GED preparation. You can vary what you tutor depending on your skills. Requires respect, consistency, patience. We provide a free meal to each regular tutor.

2)  Job hunt coach/mentor.  Work one on one with an adult job searcher to assist him/her in working on setting a job goal and seeking a job- requires a relationship over at least two months, good sense of boundaries, lots of availability by phone.

3)  Mock interviews.  Interview an adult trainee as though for a job. Ask the hard questions, observe carefully, give appropriate feedback. Requires experience with hiring entry level and lower skill jobs. 3 hours, day or evening, one or two times only.

4)  Technology.  Assist in upgrading donated computers, loading software and connecting printers to an office network so that staff can job hunt on line and practice office computing. Requires Microsoft Windows/Office expertise and patience with hardware. Day, evening or weekend.

5)  Job Recruiting.  Talking to employers to make connection for jobs for trainees. long term project, sales and communication skills. Requires daytime availability.

6)  Driver.  Person with good drivers license, own insurance and vehicle to deliver catering orders and/or to drive staff to job interviews and appointments. Must pass background check. On call as available.

6)  Marketing consultant.  Assist with PIP’s marketing and business planning for our restaurant and catering business. specific short term projects each 1-2 months long. Requires some daytime availability.
